When wanting to know where to invest your money when it comes to security, it’s important to first have a solid base.

What do we mean by this?

By ensuring you have the core essential parts of any security system set up, you can then move on to other lines of defence.

What should the core essential part of my security system be?

Barrier Security

This is where you should be first investing your money. Without having a solid starting point, the use of security cameras and monitored alarm systems won’t be as effective. For this very reason it’s crucial you approach it systematically.

Barrier security is the first line of defence when it comes to protecting you, your family and your property. The idea is to make it as hard as possible for a thief to enter your house or business. By investing in the necessary locks (BiLock keys and locks, deadlocks, deadbolts, dead-latches, lockable security bolts, gate locks, window locks), security film for windows, hinge pins, bars, grills, roller shutters, latch blocker plates and sensor lighting, you are making it extremely hard for any unwanted visitors to enter your residence or business.

So you have good barrier security, now what to do?

Monitored Alarm

After ensuring the barrier security is fitted accordingly, it’s time to invest in a monitored alarm system.   This type of alarm system will send a notification to either yourself, or a designated number upon breaching the alarm. You can also set it up so that a security company will monitor the alarm. Security will be sent to your home or business in the case of an alarm being triggered.

By having a siren and strobe box fitted to the front of the home it’ll work as a visual deterrent. There are also pet friendly detectors that can be fitted so your don’t set off the alarm.

Final line of defence?

Camera System

Once you have your barrier security fitted and your alarm fitted, it’s now time to look at a CCTV system for your premises.

CCTV systems are great to have at your premises as they provide a very powerful monitoring system including; ability to zoom in and pan out on command, night vision and also facial recognition.

The hard drives will store months of data for later review. You can also look at your camera system on your smartphone. This is particularly useful for seeing if you actually do have an intruder in your home or business.
